Yanks After Martin? Revenge or Need?

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Yankees are now "taking an aggressive approach" in negotiations with Russell MartinCould this be to foil the plan of the Red Sox or even drive up the price.  Word on the street is that the Red Sox went after Mariano Rivera with the purpose of signing him, but if that failed they wanted to make sure the Yankees didn't get a hometown discount. Theo and company also swept in and snagged Crawford before the Yankees could finish with Cliff Lee. So now Yankees who have J, Posada, F. Cervelli and Jesus Monetero waiting in the wings are going after Martin? Hmm...it's always nice to see the battle of the brains between these franchises but on this one I think the Yankees picked a losing battle to fight. If the move was to get a catcher, John Buck was available months ago, familiar with the American League East and a high caliber catcher. Lets see how this one turns out.
